Deep groove ball bearings from GMN – Reliable performance for rotating systems

Deep groove ball bearings are among the most widely used roller bearing designs – and for good reason. They are simple in design, compact, robust, and can be used in a wide range of applications. GMN offers not only standard solutions, but also technologically engineered precision bearings that are tailored to demanding industrial applications.

Our deep groove ball bearings impress with their high dimensional accuracy, low friction, and excellent running accuracy. They are designed to reliably absorb radial and axial forces in both directions and, thanks to their compact design, offer maximum flexibility during installation – especially in situations with limited installation space.

Single row deep groove ball bearings – standard solution with a wide range of applications

Single row deep groove ball bearings from GMN are used wherever smooth running, easy installation, and reliable absorption of combined loads are required.

Typical examples are:

Electric motors and generators

Pumps and fans

Automation technology

Standard design

SERIES 60.. and 62..

  • Universally applicable
  • Absorption of axial and radial forces in both directions
  • Reference characteristic RPM’s: 0.6 · 106 mm / min (steel cage)
  • Also available as a hybrid ball bearing
KL_BF_RL_6062_1
KL_BF_RL_6062_2

Our bearings in the 60.. and 62.. series according to DIN 625 are designed for reference speeds of up to 1.4 × 10⁶ mm/min (with T9H cage) and can be precisely adapted to any application using different materials, lubricants, or sealing systems.

Thanks to the wide variety of variants, they are particularly suitable for modular machine concepts in which different bearing functions must be implemented within a specified installation space.

The 60 series features a slim design that is preferred for use in limited installation spaces and moderate loads, such as in electric motors or lightweight components. The 62 series, on the other hand, is significantly more robust and is suitable for higher radial and axial loads with a comparable inner diameter.

This standardized variety allows designers maximum freedom in selecting the appropriate bearing geometry – both in new developments and when replacing existing units.

Deep groove ball bearings with shields – protection for sensitive environments

For applications requiring increased protection against dust, dirty air, or splashing water, GMN offers various deep groove ball bearing designs with shields. These provide a mechanical barrier against contamination and significantly reduce the risk of premature bearing damage – without the need for additional sealing elements.

The most important variants at a glance:

SERIES Z: Bearing with a cover plate, ideal for one-sided protection requirements or if the bearing is to remain open on the other side (e.g., for central lubrication).

KL_BF_RL_Z_1
KL_BF_RL_Z_2

SERIES 2Z: Bearing with cover plates on both sides, effectively protects against particle ingress from the outside and optimizes grease-lubricated lifetime lubrication.

KL_BF_RL_2Z_1
KL_BF_RL_2Z_2

SERIES X2Z: Bearing with two cover plates and extra width, offering additional lubricant supply and increased running time reserves. Suitable for applications with high speeds and limited relubrication options.

KL_BF_RL_X2Z_1
KL_BF_RL_X2Z_2

These designs are particularly recommended for compact drives, blowers, fans, or small motors in which environmental influences regularly affect the bearing.

The selection of the appropriate cover plate variant (as well as the cage, balls, and lubricant) contributes significantly to optimizing service life—we are happy to assist you with the technical design.

Manufacture of deep groove ball bearings – precision in every step of production

GMN manufactures deep groove ball bearings to the highest quality standards – every step of production is designed to ensure dimensional accuracy, material quality, and functional reliability.

 The manufacturing process in detail:

  • Material selection: Use of high-purity roller bearing steels, optionally with ceramic rolling elements for hybrid bearings
  • Mechanical processing: High-precision turning, grinding, and honing with the tightest tolerances
  • Heat treatment: Optimized hardening for maximum fatigue strength and minimal dimensional change
  • Final inspection: 100% testing for concentricity, noise behavior, fit accuracy, and surface quality.

Every bearing leaves our factory only after strict quality approval – for maximum reliability in operation.

Individual customization options for maximum system integration

GMN offers a wide range of customization options to tailor deep groove ball bearings precisely to your application:

  • Cage materials: Steel, brass, polyamide – depending on temperature and speed profile
  • Seals: Non-contact (e.g., Z or 2Z)
  • Grease types: Selection according to environmental conditions and service life requirements
  • Hybrid variants: With ceramic balls for minimized wear, maximum speeds, and low friction

Typical areas of application in industry

The design of deep groove ball bearings makes them true all-rounders that can be used in almost any industry:

  • Electrical engineering: Compact drives, tool motors, sensor technology
  • Mechanical engineering: Rotary feedthroughs, adjustment units, packaging lines
  • Medical technology: Fans, rotary modules in diagnostic devices
  • Aviation & energy: Auxiliary units, generators

Their versatility is further enhanced by their high adaptability to temperature, load profile, and rotational behavior.

Practical application examples

GMN deep groove ball bearings have proven themselves for decades in a wide variety of industrial applications.

  • As guide and support bearings in electric drives
  • For radially symmetrical support in gear pumps under constant pressure
  • For combined load transfer in packaging machines with alternating movement
  • As maintenance-free endurance runners in fans, blowers, and motor shafts

The combination of high vertical integration, material expertise, and design experience makes GMN a reliable partner, even for critical applications with high operating density or safety requirements.
